i-SIGMA names new president

Bowman Richards succeeds Brock Miller as president of the trade association for a one-year term.

Shredding company owner Bowman Richards has been named president of the International Secure Information Governance & Management Association (i-SIGMA), headquartered in Phoenix. Richards takes over for Brock Miller and will serve a one-year term.

I-SIGMA is the trade association for secure information life cycle management. The association combines the former National Association for Information Destruction, or NAID, and Professional Records and Information Services Management (PRISM) International associations.

“I’m honored to accept this role with i-SIGMA, an association whose continued importance in our industry can’t be underestimated,” Richards says. “I look forward to continuing the legacy my predecessors have build and working to ensure i-SIGMA’s future success.”

Richards is owner and president of Nashville, Tennessee-based secure shredding company Richards & Richards, which specializes in secure paper shredding, hard-drive and media destruction, secure and responsible electronics recycling and product destruction. Before his election as association president, he served as president-elect of i-SIGMA in 2021. In 2020, he became chair of i-SIGMA’s Conflict Resolution Committee after serving on the committee since 2018. He also was the international conference chair for NAID in 2014 and was on the board of directors of PRISM International from 2017-2020.

According to i-SIGMA, Richards & Richards has played a key role in the organization for a number of years, having been a member of the association or its predecessor organizations since 1987. Richards himself has been a member since 2008, earning the Certified Secure Destruction Specialist (CSDS) designation.

One of his primary responsibilities during his term as association president will be leading the search for a successor to i-SIGMA CEO Bob Johnson, who recently announced he is retiring at the end of 2023. Johnson is the founder of NAID. “Bowman is a long-established, widely respected member of i-SIGMA and has made countless important contributions over the years,” Johnson says. “I’m confident that our association will be in good hands with him as president.”
