Harter Recycling, La Crosse, Wisconsin, has installed a ballistic separator from MetalTech Systems, Pawleys Island, South Carolina.
The equipment was installed in Harter’s new 20,000-square-foot material recovery facility (MRF), which also includes equipment to recover paper, plastics, glass, cardboard and metals, according to MetalTech. The facility employs approximately 20 people.
Harter Recycling is a waste collection and recycling company that serves portions of Iowa, Wisconsin and Minnesota.
According to MetalTech Systems, the ballistic separator separates fiber from rigid containers and removes glass from the material stream. The company also says the equipment is a lower cost alternative to disk screens.
