Hamburger Recycling announces promotions

Hamburger Recycling Group GmbH has announced what it calls key organizational changes to its leadership team. The company is part of the Austria-based Prinzhorn Group, which also operates recycled paperboard production plants.

The recycling firm has appointed Sándor Rudnay as its managing director, effective at the beginning of this year, and chair of the firm’s management board. Joining Rudnay as new members of the management board are Stefan Riepl and Slobodan Simović.

Rudnay joined Hamburger Recycling in 2018 as its financial director, where he drove key initiatives in finance, controlling, accounting and mergers and acquisitions, according to the firm. He previously was appointed regional director of Hamburger Recycling’s Czech Republic and Hungary operations. Now, as managing director, he will be tasked with leading the company toward sustainable growth and innovation.

Rudnay will replace longtime managing director Andreas Walser, who will continue with Hamburger Recycling as its regional director for Turkish operations.

“We extend our heartfelt thanks to Andreas for his dedication and for pioneering innovative management methods during the early stages of our Recycling Division,” the company says.

Hamburger Recycling says it entered 2026 with renewed passion and clear guidance from the new management board.

“The first 20 years of Hamburger Recycling were a successful circular story,” the firm says, adding that it grew from one recycling depot to having a presence in 13 countries with 50-plus locations and more than 1,600 employees.
