Total Technology Results, a reverse logistics and information technology asset disposition (ITAD) provider, has completed the acquisition of long-time partner company Emplacement, an e-scrap location software-as-a-service (SaaS) company. As a result of the acquisition, Emplacement’s software will become a key offering in Total Technology’s portfolio.
Emplacement software assists hardware vendors’ ability to maintain relationships with their customers through the end of a technology device’s life cycle, according to a news release about the purchase. In turn, Total Technology can now offer the ability to incentivize brand loyalty to hardware manufacturers through purchase discount and trade-in programs.
According to the news release, Emplacement software offerings are part of a much larger digital transformation strategy for the company. “This acquisition enables us to accelerate our focus on helping service providers and succeed in the device as a service and software as a service, cloud-first economy,” says Total Technology founder and CEO Michael Taghavi.
Internet of things (IoT) manufacturers, like Tile, see value from Emplacement software. More than 60,000 Tile users access recycling information each month. Through integrating Emplacement into their mobile app, Tile was able to remove approximately $1.4 million in shipping costs from its mail-in program while continuing to move their customers to sustainable end-of-life actions, Total Technology says.
