Ekman & Co. AB, a trading and forest products firm based in Gothenburg, Sweden, has acquired Allan Morris Recycling (AMR), the operator of a paper recycling facility in North Wales in the United Kingdom.
“We are pleased to welcome AMR of Deeside, Flintshire, North Wales, into the Ekman Group,” the firm says in an early-April LinkedIn post.
Ekman says AMR operates one of the most advanced paper recovery facilities in the U.K.
The acquisition was completed in late March and AMR is operating as a wholly owned subsidiary of Ekman & Co AB, trading as Allan Morris Recycling.
“The decision to expand our services reflects a strategic move aimed at ensuring sustained value creation over the long term, as well as enhancing supplier and customer satisfaction," Ekman says.
The U.K. facility will operate as part of Ekman Recycling Ltd., which has been a member of the Ekman Group since 2016.
“We have been working with Allan Morris Recycling in recent years, and we have always been impressed with their professional and flexible approach to doing business,” says Pankaj Chowdhary, managing director of Ekman Recycling.
“I am particularly pleased that Carl Robertson will remain within the business as its managing director, along with his key staff, whom we welcome with open arms and look forward to working with for many years to come.”
“Our relationship with Ekman has always been positive, and their long-term commitment and credibility align perfectly with our culture," Robertson adds. "With Ekman, we gain access to expertise, new partners and financial strength, which will support our continued growth.”
Ekman says the acquisition reflects a strategic move aimed at ensuring sustained value creation over the long term, as well as enhancing supplier and customer satisfaction.
In the U.K., Ekman Recycling is a large category Environment Agency-approved and accredited exporter, trading in recovered materials within the U.K., Europe and the rest of the world.
AMR was established in 2008, operating a plant designed to process up to 75,000 metric tons per year of a range of paper and recyclable materials.
The Deeside plant can accept and load trucks or containers, including bulk and baled materials, with all material handled undercover.
Ekman Group was incorporated in 1802 and is a global sales and marketing organization that aligns buyers and sellers of forest products around the world, with a trading presence in more than 100 countries.
