Philadelphia-based recycling firm eForce Compliance has announced that its Philadelphia electronics recycling operation has been certified to the e-Stewards Standard for Responsible Recycling & Reuse of Electronic Equipment. The Seattle-based Basel Action Network (BAN) developed the e-Stewards Standard.
To achieve e-Stewards certification, recyclers are subject to multiday audits by independent certifying bodies.
Jim Puckett, BAN executive director, says, “The e-Stewards initiative defines and promotes responsible electronics recycling and reuse worldwide by creating principled and practical standards that will, among other things, prevent toxic materials from being deposited in solid waste landfills, sent to prison labor operations or exported to developing countries.
“We are pleased that, as a certified e-Stewards recycler, eForce is now providing that assurance to businesses and other consumers of electronic products in the Philadelphia area,” Puckett adds.
EForce Compliance serves businesses in the metro-Philadelphia area.
