Weyerhaeuser Co. will close four corrugated packaging plants as part of its previously announced plans to consolidate operations and achieve savings following the acquisition of MacMillan Bloedel Ltd.
The plants are located in Cleveland; Houston; Jersey City, N.J.; and Rock Island, Ill. The Houston, Jersey City and Rock Island plants are former MacMillan Bloedel facilities.
Closing the plants will remove excess corrugated box capacity from Weyerhaeuser's packaging plant system. Many existing customers of the plants will be served by other Weyerhaeuser facilities in the same geographic area.
