Universal Recycling Technologies (URT), a full-service provider of electronics and universal waste recycling and information technology asset disposition (ITAD) solutions, has announced that it has appointed Ken Thomas as its new president.
According to a news release from URT, Jim Cornwell, who founded the company in 2003, plans to retire this month after serving as the company’s president for 17 years. Thomas will step into Cornwell’s role Jan. 9.
Thomas has more than 20 years of senior management experience, including more than a decade of experience developing short- and long-term goals, plans and strategies. He has eight years of experience within the company, currently serving as URT’s vice president of finance. URT says he has been driving its financial strategy and performance since 2012. Prior to joining URT, Thomas held financial and operational roles in the casting and fabrication industries.
In his new position, Thomas says he will help URT maintain its responsible recycling ethic, sustain safe workplaces and grow the company’s operational metrics and the markets it serves.
“I look forward to working with the team and building on the foundation put in place by Jim,” Thomas says. “Over the last few years, URT has faced and overcome many difficult challenges and is currently positioned to grow in profitability and market share. Each of our divisions has strong management in place, and I look forward to seeing us continue to grow our business and overcome the many challenges inherent in the electronic waste industry.”
