Universal Recycling Technologies LLC (URT), Janesville, Wis., has expanded into a 40,000-square-foot building in its headquarters city. The new building offers additional office and processing space to complement the company’s existing 140,000-square-foot facility in Janesville. URT says it plans to hire 30 employees to support the expansion.
The company operates seven recycling facilities in the United States as well as a customer service center in Endicott, N.Y.
URT provides end-of-life recycling, asset recovery services, universal waste, commodities and logistics management services. Additionally, URT processes and recycles mercury-containing devices in select operations across the United States, manufactures recycling equipment and offers glass-to-glass processing.
To support URT’s expansion, the city of Janesville approved a $50,000 Tax Increment Financing loan to pay for some of the improvements to the facility.
“Universal Recycling Technologies is pleased announce the expansion of our footprint in Rock County,” says Jim Cornwell, URT president. “We are proud to be a part of the community and its continued economic recovery.”
The company has been privately owned by Hendricks Holding Co. Inc. since 2007
According to Mark Membrino, Hendricks Development Group’s development manager, “This project is another step forward for URT’s growth and the recovery of the local economy. URT is a great company with great leadership and backing in a ‘green’ industry that is experiencing explosive growth.”
