Trinity Metals, based in Indianapolis, has purchased a 120,000-square-foot building formerly owned by the paper company Smurfit Stone Container Corp. and has relocated its headquarters and two of its divisions into the new location.
Trinity Metals is part of the C.N.A. Group based out of Houston.
The company will run its electronics recycling and nonferrous processing operations out of the new location while keeping its specialty metals operations at its other Indianapolis building on Shadeland Ave. Trinity reports that it has extended its lease at the building on Shadeland.
Wade Conner, CEO and co-founder of Trinity Metals, says the company will invest nearly $2 million on the newly acquired building, including $1 million in building updates.
The company also is installing a Grizzly baler from Harris, Tyrone, Ga., which Conner says should be operational by the end of the summer. Other equipment destined for the new building includes forklifts and a truck scale.
In addition to its two plants in Indianapolis, Trinity has trading offices in Los Angeles and in Fort Wayne, Ind. Conner says the company also is in the process of leasing a warehouse and office space in the Los Angeles area with plans to expand its West Coast business.
Conner co-founded Trinity Metals in early 2008 with Hari Agrawal of C.N.A. Metals. Previously, Conner was the founder and executive vice president of the recycling company Normet. Trinity purchased the assets of Normet in August 2008.
Going forward, Conner says the company, a long-time member of the Institute of Scrap Recycling Industries Inc. (ISRI) and the Bureau of International Recycling, will be undergoing preparation to become R2/RIOS (Responsible Recycling Practices/Recycling Industry Operating Standard) certified for its electronics recycling operation.
