In the previous issue’s Editor’s Letter, I spelled out the topics of conversation at several recycling events that had taken place in the final quarter of 2015. For recyclers who either missed out on those opportunities or who are thirsty for more knowledge, the good news is that the first half of 2016 brings with it more industrywide events.
In early April, recyclers of all materials and from around the world will gather in Las Vegas for the Institute of Scrap Recycling Industries (ISRI) 2016 Convention & Exposition.
The annual convention offers a combination of dozens of sessions covering nearly all secondary commodities and an exhibition hall featuring the equipment and services of vendors from all over the world.
ISRI’s headquarters and roots may be in North America, but its annual convention has become a gathering place for traders and processors from all continents who want to shop for equipment or software, make new contacts or strengthen bonds with current trading partners.
The Recycling Today Media Group will be among the several hundred exhibitors in Las Vegas, with a temporary home in Booth No. 1361. Please stop by to learn more about our products and services for the scrap recycling market or to talk to me about the successes or challenges you are encountering in the 2016 market. If I’m not there, please leave a business card!
In late May and early June, the event action shifts to Germany. From 29 May through 1 June, the Bureau of International Recycling (BIR) will host its 2016 World Recycling Convention in Berlin. Partly overlapping it from 30 May through 3 June, the IFAT exhibition takes place in Munich.
Recycling Today Global Edition will be in attendance at both events, and I am looking forward to reacquainting with existing friends and meeting new people at both.
The traders and recyclers gathered for the BIR event in Berlin will learn from and contribute to the dialog focusing on the world’s most commonly recycled materials. The truly global nature of the recycling industry is on display at this event.
At IFAT, held every two years in Munich, more than 3,000 exhibitors from environmental sectors including recycling and beyond will fill several contiguous convention halls. The event spotlights equipment from around the world that is on display to allow thorough comparison shopping.
Whether you are a trader or materials processor with a success story or a new idea or an equipment supplier with a technological breakthrough attending one of these events, we want to help tell your story. Please look for the Recycling Today Media Group at any of these three events or contact me at btaylor@gie.net.
