Terex-Fuchs--Reducing Fuel Costs

Denver’s All Recycling Inc. builds a fleet of Fuchs scrap handlers.

Craig and Scot Uhrig have worked hard to help build All Recycling Inc. into a growing scrap recycling firm serving Denver and the surrounding Front Range region.

Along with that growth has come the need to upgrade operations, with a key ally in those efforts being the line of scrap handlers made by Terex-Fuchs Material Handling Group.

According to Scot Uhrig, All Recycling started in 1992 as a nonferrous recycling facility, but soon added ferrous scrap recycling capabilities in order to provide a full range of services to customers.

That decision lead to an increase in material and a need for additional processing equipment (most notably a shredder) and the accompanying material handling equipment, which meant replacing All Recycling’s older mobile handling equipment with new, purpose-built machines.

"For every two converted excavators we used to run, we now have one purpose-built Fuchs machine in its place," says Scot.

Whether measuring productivity, reliability, operator comfort or fuel efficiency, the Terex Fuchs machines have out-performed other brands of material handlers All Recycling has tried or considered.

The company now runs five Fuchs 360 rubber-tired scrap handlers and one Fuchs RHL 350 tracked model that it takes to demolition sites and other on-site projects.

"The reliability has been absolutely great," says Scot. "The mobility is critical because these machines are multi-tasking," he says, noting that the wheeled machines are used interchangeably to load and unload material and to feed processing equipment.

Scot also highlights Fuchs’ fuel efficiency. With fuel costs potentially soaking up a much larger part of All Recycling’s operating budget these days, Scot is grateful that the machines use 30 to 40 percent less fuel than a rival scrap handler brand the company owns and probably save even more compared to the converted excavators formerly used.

All Recycling has enjoyed working with Terex-Fuchs and regional dealer Power-Motive Corp. "We’ve been pleased with Power-Motive for years, and working with Tom Skodak and the Terex-Fuchs corporate people has been a great experience."
