Tech Defenders
In light of the COVID-19 pandemic, many companies, like Grand Rapids, Michigan-based Tech Defenders, are finding ways to give back to their communities. The company focuses on repurposing and reselling used electronic devices.
Just recently, Tech Defenders teamed up with Michigan's Zeeland Public Schools to donate hundreds of face masks and iPads to the Zeeland Community Hospital. The masks will go to nurses, doctors and other health care workers. The iPads will be used to aid in virtual care sessions and help patients, who cannot have visitors, connect with their families.
Tech Defenders says it’s happy to be able to aid the community as everyone is facing different challenges.
“We wanted to make a powerful impact on our community and found a way to do just that. Those that are facing this pandemic head-on are the health care workers, and the patients, so we wanted to support both. That is why we donated masks for the workers and iPads for the patients to connect with family. One of the hardest parts of the current situation is the feeling of isolation. And we just wanted to help ease that feeling,” says Connor Sweeney, Tech Defenders chief revenue officer.
The hospital has announced that it will now be able to offer more COVID-19 testing to patients in need because the masks from Tech Defender and Zeeland Public Schools will be helpful to those on the frontlines.
