Scranton, Pa.-based Diversified Information Technologies (DIT) has signed a three-year agreement with Blue Cross of Northeastern Pennsylvania (BCNEPA) that is designed to help the insurer streamline its group enrollment processes.
Under the agreement, group administrators will e-mail, fax or mail applications and enrollment correspondence directly to DIT. The company says it will securely scan the forms and convert them to digital images, which BCNEPA employees will immediately be able to access and process electronically.
In a news release, BCNEPA says it will save an estimated 30 percent per year on the cost of enrolling group members through this method by eliminating paper. BCNEPA also says it expects to significantly cut the time it takes to process each group enrollment application to about one day.
DIT also will help BCNEPA handle various group account maintenance documents through its scanning service. DIT says its system will allow BCNEPA to track each group account maintenance document as it is processed.
