Knoxville, Tenn.-based document destruction firm 3GS LLC has appointed Barry Payne chief executive officer. He also will serve on the 3GS board of directors.
Before joining 3GS, Payne worked for Houston-based Waste Management and was responsible for recycling operations in Pennsylvania and West Virginia. Prior to his post with Waste Management, Payne had a 12-year career with Iron Mountain. His last position with that company was as senior vice president, responsible for its North America document destruction division. In Payne’s first four years at Iron Mountain he served as region vice president within the records management division.
At the time of his departure, Iron Mountain’s document destruction business had grown to $200 million in annual revenue, with more than 25 plants servicing approximately 100 markets.
At 3GS, he joins Mike Boehringer, formerly of EZshred and Shredding Solutions. Boehringer, COO of 3GS, oversees the existing field business units while driving new acquisitions and company integrations.
