Recession-Resistant Selling, Shredding Style
Unless you have been under a rock lately, I am guessing you have heard about the economy in the news lately.
Call me crazy, but I think the information destruction industry is pretty close to a "recession-resistant" industry. Notice, I did not say "recession-proof," because unless you’re like my brother (who is in law enforcement), there is no recession-proof business.
Our industry is recession resistant because:
1. In a recession, Dumpster diving will increase.
2. Corporate espionage will be at an all-time high.
3. To keep trash costs down, companies will be placing more and more emphasis on "going green" and recycling.
4. Outsourcing destruction saves your clients time and money vs. in-house shredding and is much more secure.
5. State and federal legislation will continue to demand companies safeguard sensitive information.
6. NAID will continue to work hard to help promote the industry and better position it in the marketplace.
The value proposition we provide our clients is helping them fight ID theft and corporate espionage. The last thing an organization needs in the middle of an economic downturn is a security breach. Position yourself as the local security expert and let others worry about the recession.
