1. Andritz MeWa QZ cross-flow shredder. Andritz MeWa, with offices in Gechingen, Germany, has introduced the QZ 2500 cross-flow shredder, which offers these features, according to the company:

  • patented system does away with knives
  • designed for electronic scrap, refrigerators, car parts and metal turnings, among other materials
  • floor-mounted acceleration tools create a hurricane inside the machine, breaking down material through repeated collisions
  • materials exit the system after just a few seconds of processing

2. Caterpillar Cat MH3027 handler. New from U.S.-based Caterpillar is the Cat MH3027 wheeled material handler in the greater-than-25-tonne class, featuring:

  • 28,500-kilogram (62,832-pound) material handler with a shorter swing radius than the MH3037
  • purpose built for solid waste and scrap recycling
  • debris-resistant cooling package with hydraulic, variable speed auto-reversing fan and plug-resistant coolers
  • standard cab avoidance system with sensors on the front linkage
  • two hydraulic cab riser options
  • a 129-kilowatt (173-horsepower) Cat C7.1 ACERT engine that meets U.S. EPA Tier 4 Final/EU Stage IV emissions standards

3. Goudsmit mobile eddy current separators. Goudsmit Magnetic Systems BV of Waalre, Netherlands, is offering a new line of mobile eddy current separators (ECS) that includes these features, according to the company:

  • trailer-mounted
  • equipped with one of the largest internal magnet rotors available
  • increased magnetic forces on the belt surface, increased magnetic angle of influence and increased magnetic field depth
  • improved separation yields of fine and medium-sized fractions
  • eccentric placement of magnet rotor
  • available in various machine widths and rotor configurations

4. Machinex MACH Hyspec optical sorter. Machinex of Plessisville, Quebec, has introduced the MACH Hyspec optical sorting machine, which it says offers these features:

  • a high-speed, short-wave infrared hyperspectral detection system
  • different models can detect various material types, such as plastic grades, fibre products, wood products and wood by grade
  • colour recognition and metal detection options
  • higher field depth detection of 430 millimetres ejects rolling objects efficiently
  • patent pending light system generates less heat
