Genesis Attachments, a Superior, Wisconsin-based brand of NPK Co., has released the GXT Evo line of mobile shears. Built with many of the same components and having a similar appearance to the company’s GXT shears, the GXT Evo models contain new features designed to enhance performance and reduce maintenance. The GXT Evo mobile shears:

  • feature an improved stick design with fewer weld joints for improved strength and durability
  • have a redesigned pivot system that incorporates dual pucks to reduce structural component stress and also allows for a narrower shear body with solid pivot wraps
  • include a regen tray mounting system that enables the tray to move independently of the shear body and reduces maintenance
  • have blade kits that match current GXT model kits, eliminating the need to order and maintain separate sets of blades
  • are designed with a unified head and lugs that increase compatibility with, and simplify mounting between, attachments
  • are available in GXT Evo 555, 665, 775HD and 995 rotating and nonrotating models

Nashville, Tennessee-based MSS Inc., a division of CP Group, offers its patented Meatball Magnet sorting system, which automates the separation of contaminants such as motors, transformers and alternators from shredded steel in automotive shredder facilities. The Meatball Magnet:

  • employs artificial intelligence (AI) detection algorithms to trigger electromagnets that sort material as it travels at conveyor speeds of 250 feet per minute
  • can handle multiple items up to 25 pounds at once
  • is available in 32-, 48- and 64-inch machine widths and is protected under multiple U.S. patents
  • is equipped with individual electromagnets positioned across the width inside the head pulley that are selectively activated whenever a meatball is detected, altering the trajectory of meatballs downward and away from clean steel
  • features a cloud-based dashboard that allows the operator to view, analyze and export data gathered by the AI-enhanced sensors
  • is designed to run faster than equipment with robotic arms
