Sicon EcoShred Wiretec

Germany-based Sicon GmbH, which has a U.S. office in Atlanta, has introduced its EcoShred Wiretec for the European market, which it says offers a cost-effective method of processing and recycling insulated copper wire from the auto shredder residue stream. The EcoShred Wiretec system:
- uses a vertical hammer mill with hammers that can be used on all four edges
- offers liberation of nonferrous metals and insulation, nuggetizing of nonferrous metals and magnetization of stainless steel components for further separation in a single pass, across five grinding levels
- operates with extremely low wear, allowing it to avoid issues associated with some other blade technologies
- can be used to process fine zorba fractions with high metal content and other metal-containing material streams that previously were considered “uneconomical to recycle”
- is suitable as a replacement for existing shredding and separation technologies in older facilities as well as new ones
