Pratt Industries has announced that it has begun recycling operations in Winston-Salem, N.C. This is the 11th recycling facility for the Georgia-based company, and represents a significant investment in the community.
“We’re extremely excited to begin operations in the Winston-Salem area,” says Kurt Schmitz, Pratt Recycling’s National Operations manager.
“This facility will process recyclables collected from municipalities and counties in the region, as well as commercial accounts, including manufacturers, retailers, distribution centers and others.”
Pratt’s Procurement Manager Shawn State adds, “This is another example of Pratt’s willingness to engage in and assist local communities and commercial businesses with their recycling efforts.”
“This facility will play an important role not only in our efforts to reduce material going to landfill, but also to combat global warming – as well as provide fiber for our mill system.”
Pratt will use the recovered paper at its Conyers, Ga., recycling mill, and sell any metal and plastic to other end users of recyclable materials.
The opening of the recycling operation is not the first foray by Pratt into North Carolina. The company already operates corrugated box plants in Raleigh and Statesville, N.C.
“This recycling center is strategically placed to help more of our box customers ‘close the loop’ in their corrugated supply chain,” says State.
