Plum Creek Environmental Technologies (PCET), a Mississippi-based fabricator and distributor of recycling-related equipment, is set to relocate its operations to a larger space in West Point, Mississippi.
Jim Wamble, president and CEO of the company, says the company has seen strong demand for its product line, mandating the need to move to a larger facility.
"We are excited to find a property in nearby West Point that will help Plum Creek Environmental Technologies meet strong market demand. The building's linear layout will greatly enhance our production capacity, and it also allows us to tap into a skilled talent pool of production welders. We have been extremely blessed to experience rapid growth in the waste and recycling equipment arena and needed a facility that will allow us to fit our needs.”
The new facility is about 20,000 square feet and has been designed for greater efficiency.
PCET currently employs 40 people and hopes to add another 50 employs with the expansion. The company is expected to move into the new facility by the end of this year.
“We appreciate the assistance of The Link, Golden Triangle Planning Development District and The Mississippi Development Authority in making this expansion come to fruition," Wamble says. "We also appreciate the efforts of the Clay County Board of Supervisors and the city of West Point in supporting our development."
The company started in 2009 as a distributor of compactors and balers. Since then PCET has diversified and now has two distinct but related divisions: manufacturing of metal-fabricated waste and recycling containers, such as roll-offs and dumpsters, and distributing a range of scrap processing equipment, including balers, shredders and compactors.
PCET presently ships fabricated containers and resells compaction products into more than 10 southern states. However, the company’s present infrastructure prevents it from meeting its demands, Wamble says. By expanding to a larger plant, the company expects to be able to meet its customers’ needs.
The Golden Triangle Development LINK, which helped put together the project, is the regional economic development organization for three counties in northeast Mississippi.
According to Macaulay Whitaker, vice president of GTR LINK’s internal/external affairs, it has been assisting PCET for more than a year. "In the recent quarter, the company's success made an expansion necessary, and we assisted them with identifying a location and incentives to accommodate their growth," he says.
