Harmon Associates Names Forman President

Marc Forman, chief operations officer for Harmon Associates LLC, New York, has been named president of the company as well. The new position is effective immediately.

Forman is responsible for all of Harmon’s activities globally, including recycled fiber sourcing for the Georgia-Pacific’s European and U.S. mills and third-party trading.

He replaces Simon Davies, who has left the company after 22 years of distinguished service.

Harmon, a subsidiary of Atlanta-based Georgia-Pacific, moves more than 120,000 tons of recovered fiber weekly. More information is available at www.commerce.gp.com/harmongp.

Charitable Trust Honors Martin L. Wilhelm

The Martin L. Wilhelm Charitable Trust has been established in honor of the late Marty Wilhelm, former owner of Youngstown, Ohio-based Youngstown Iron and Metal Inc. and Atlas Recycling Inc. Wilhelm was in the Caribbean nation of Trinidad &Tobago on a scrap buying trip in November of 2006 when he died in a car accident.

By contributing to the Martin L. Wilhelm Charitable Trust, people can help to continue Wilhem’s tradition of giving back to the community by supporting university scholarships, sponsoring recycling and conservation programs and continuing Wilhelm’s support of the Boy Scouts of America.

The trust also focuses on providing sustainable philanthropic efforts to encourage environmental awareness and to lessen mankind’s environmental impact through education, according to the Wilhelm Foundation Web site at www.thewilhelmfoundation.org.

"We coordinate with local and worldwide partners to develop a shared vision for improving lives, opportunities and general condition of humanity," the Web site explains.

Canusa Hershman Recycling Names Plastics General Manager

Bruce Spaziani has joined Canusa Hershman Recycling Corp. (CHRC), Branford, Conn., as the general manager of the company’s plastics division.

Spaziani began his career in the plastics industry in 1985 when he began working in the research and development of plastic and wiring cables. Before joining CHRC, he served as the senior VP of operations for J-Von and Gitto Global, a compound recycling business based in Massachusetts, for 12 years.

"Having Bruce on the team has given upper management the confidence that the continued expansion of our plant operations and brokerage activities are being handled by a seasoned professional," Ethan Hershman, CEO of Canusa Hershman, says.

Vecoplan LLC Appoints Director of Finance

High Point, N.C.-based Vecoplan LLC, a leading manufacturer of size-reduction equipment, has appointed Jeffery Queen to the company’s newly created position of director of finance.

Queen’s responsibilities with the company include the ongoing development, implementation and oversight of best accounting practices as they apply to domestic and international manufacturing, importing and sales.

Formerly controller at the U.S. subsidiary of a Belgium manufacturing concern, Queen brings 16 years of experience in international finance to his new position at Vecoplan.
