Gregory Quinton has been named marketing manager of ferrous sales for the Southeast region by Commercial Metals Co. (CMC), Dallas. Quinton, who has been with Commercial Metals since 1989, previously served as marketing manager for a CMC processing facility in Chattanooga, Tenn.
OMNISOURCE CORP.
John Marynowski has been named president of OmniSource Corporation’s Indiana Ferrous Group. Marynowski will have complete responsibility for Indiana Ferrous’ operating, sales and marketing areas.
Marynowski joined OmniSource, Fort Wayne, Ind., in 1975 and worked in both the ferrous and nonferrous sales and trading areas. In 1985, he was promoted to vice president of ferrous marketing and in 1992, he was named vice president for ferrous marketing and operations for the Indiana Group.
ALLISON TRANSMISSION
The Allison Transmission Division of General Motors, Indianapolis, has appointed three individuals to new positions. Gary Desai has joined the division as chief information officer. Larry Nitz has been named chief engineer of advanced engineering. Nitz was most recently with Saturn Corp., where he served as chief engineer for automatic and manual transmissions. David Parish has been promoted to director, manufacturing technical support at Allison. Allison Transmission designs and makes transmissions for a variety of vehicles, including off-road trucks and equipment.
PENNSYLVANIA CRUSHER
Pennsylvania Crusher Corp. has appointed Kwang Kim as regional manager for its central states territory. He will work closely with George Thompson, assuming total responsibility for the region when Thompson retires in 1998.
IN MEMORIAM
Austin Merrills, O.B.E., former president of Ireland Alloys, Hamilton, Scotland, passed away in mid-December. In addition to guiding Ireland Alloys for 44 years and building it into a respected global trading firm, Merrills was a long-time Bureau of International Recycling (BIR) adviser and vice president.
