``P&G's tissue and towel volume in the US has grown by nearly 30% over the past five years,'' said Nancy Swanson, vice president and general manager of P&G's tissue and towel products in North America. ``This has, in the past, forced us into product allocation. While we currently have sufficient supply to meet customer needs, the increasingly strong demand for our products and overall increased tissue consumption in the market requires us to add capacity to meet long-term needs.''
The paper-making capacity at Mehoopany will be expanded in two phases. The first machine will be operational by the middle of next year, adding 75,000 tons of capacity.
