Dodge Center, Minnesota-based McNeilus Truck & Manufacturing Inc., an Oshkosh Corp. company, has announced it is supplying Knight Waste Services Ltd., Fort Worth, Texas, with its Street Smart Vision SSV10 system.
The McNeilus SSV10, powered by Montreal-based FleetMind, combines a 10.4-inch touch-screen monitor, a mobile on-board computer and a DVR platform to enable and interface with a list of software features. High-definition monitors and up to eight cameras allow drivers a broader view when monitoring their surroundings. The available fleet management software also allows managers to track and correct driver behavior and captures and stores video footage, McNeilus says.
Additionally, McNeilus says the SSV10 vision system provides optimized routing, reduces maintenance costs and fuel consumption and interfaces with third-party dispatch, billing, maintenance and other applications. The company says it will install, service and support the system through its expanding network of service center locations across North America.
Knight Waste Services will employ the SSV10 system fleetwide on its 26 McNeilus automated side-load trucks, which provide weekly residential garbage and recycling collection for nearly 90,000 residential accounts in Fort Worth, Texas. The system includes route management software, live streaming video, DVR and driver coaching.
“Implementing the SSV10 vision system will help us verify to the city of Fort Worth that customers are being serviced and provide the city with that information in real time,” says Richard Knight, COO and co-owner of Knight Waste Services. “The system will also enable us to document activities and incidents with video and photos, significantly reducing our liability. Just as importantly, we’re looking forward to better managing our fleet operations and customer service as a result of the information the Street Smart Vision system makes available to us.”
A session detailing the Knight Waste Services solution will be held during WasteExpo 2016, Monday, June 6, from 1:30 p.m. to 2:45 p.m., in room S225. Speakers will include:
- Richard Knight, Knight Waste Services;
- Martin Demers, FleetMind;
- Bryan Dodds, McNeilus; and
- David Pardue, Volvo.
