JW Aluminum expands South Carolina operations

Company will invest more than $250 million to expand its capacity.

JW Aluminum, a manufacturer of flat-rolled aluminum products, has announced plans to expand its existing Russellville, South Carolina, operations. The facility’s growth is expected to bring $255 million of capital investment and lead to the creation of 50 new jobs.

The company, founded in Mount Holly, South Carolina, produces flat-rolled aluminum, which is used in consumer and commercial products. With four aluminum mills in the U.S., the company manufactures building and distributor sheets, fin stock, cable wrap, honeycomb foil and other products.

According to the “raw materials requirements” section of its website, the company buys a variety of aluminum scrap grades for its facilities in both Russellville and Mount Holly.

The expansion will include the construction of a 220,000-square-foot building and the installation of what the company calls green, state-of-the-art technology.

South Carolina’s Coordinating Council for Economic Development has approved job development credits related to the project, as well as a $500,000 grant to assist with costs pertaining to infrastructure improvements.
