Behind my desk at NAID headquarters hangs a picture of my grandfather. He was a successful inventor and entrepreneur, and I inherited my work ethic (and my haircut) from him. He taught me that Saturday was a gift from your competition; they gave you an extra day to compete against them while they agreed to do nothing.
Now, I am not suggesting that you work six days per week (especially if you are my competitor). But I am suggesting that you use the summer in the same way my grandfather used Saturdays.
When things slow in the summer, use that to your advantage. Build your network. Start your e-bulletin. Get training on NAID’s new marketing programs. The practice will build confidence, and the seeds you sow will pay off handsomely in the future. With the HITECH (Health Information Technology for Economic and Clinical Health) Act Final Rule due this autumn, you could be sitting pretty while your competition is just getting back to work.
