Officials representing the scrap metal company J. Solotken & Co. Inc. hosted an open house at its eastside Indianapolis facility as part of its 100th anniversary celebration June 14, 2014.
The company, a regional wholesale dealer specializing in nonferrous metals, was founded by Jacob Solotken and has been a family-owned business for four generations.
According to J. Solotken & Co., it has increased its tonnage by 58 percent from 2009 and by 145 percent since 2000.
Indianapolis Mayor Greg Ballard was on hand for the celebration. A dinner/reception was held at the Columbia Club in Indianapolis, at which time company President Joseph Alpert, who is the third generation of the family to lead the J. Solotken & Co., was presented with an award.
