A recent study conducted by Shotgun Capital Advisors LLC, Southlake, Texas, reveals that the U.S. document destruction industry continued to show strong growth and performance metrics in 2009, in spite of the economy.
Shotgun received more than 130 responses from owners and executives of independently owned document destruction companies. According to the survey results, nearly 50 percent of respondents reported double-digit growth in shredding service revenue; however, 41 percent of respondents reported a double digit decline in recycling revenue in 2009 relative to 2008.
Survey respondents appear optimistic about what 2010 holds. Nearly 70 percent of respondents say they expect double-digit revenue growth across all business revenue segments (recurring services, purge services and recycling sales), while nearly 30 percent say they expect 2010 growth to exceed 20 percent.
