Media Services, ShredTime Appoint VP

The former CEO of Topeka, Kan.-based Jayhawk File Express, Bob Featherston Jr., has been named vice president of sales and marketing for Media Services and ShredTime, Kansas City, Mo.

While at Jayhawk File Express, Featherston led efforts to more than triple the size of the company in a short time. Along with generating considerable revenue growth, he led several service expansions, including document imaging and off-site data protection, according to a release issued by Media Services.

Robert Rippentrop, president of Media Services and Shred Time, says, "I have known Bob for years, and he brings tremendous sales and marketing management capabilities to our already strong team. His proven experience and expertise in this industry will bring value to our customers and cement our lead as the industry leader in Kansas City."

Featherston is responsible for all sales and marketing efforts and leads strategic business development planning as Media Services expands.

Prior to his post at Jayhawk File Express, Featherston managed key accounts for a Kansas City-based marketing communications firm and was also a political campaign manager. He is a graduate of Westminster College in Fulton, Mo.

Media Services and ShredTime offer a full range of record management services, including records storage, secure shredding, document imaging and off-site data storage as well as distributing File Bound Software. Media Services is AAA Certified by the National Association for Information Destruction (NAID), Phoenix, and is a member of PRISM International, Garner, N.C.

Recall Corp. Opens in U.S. Capitol Region

Atlanta-based Recall has opened a secure document and electronic media destruction facility in Lanham, Md.

The new facility enables Recall to offer organizations in the Capitol Region collection and off-site destruction of sensitive documents, data storage media and items with high intrinsic value, such as uniforms and defective merchandise.

The site complements Recall’s other Capitol area facilities, providing the full scope of document management services, including storage and archiving, document digitization, data protection and disaster recovery and continuity for commercial clients, government and other organizations.

Recall has 300 operation centers in more than 20 countries and services nearly 80,000 customers worldwide. The company is a wholly owned subsidiary of Australia-based Brambles.

3GS Acquires Purchase Records Destruction

Knoxville, Tenn.-based 3GS LLC has acquired Purchase Records Destruction (PRD), a Calvert City, Ky.-based document destruction business.

PRD specializes in secure on-site and off-site document destruction, providing destruction of paper, video tapes, compact discs, floppy discs and microfilm, as well as of hard drives, uniforms and other products.

3GS has acquired document shredding companies in Louisiana, Georgia and Alabama throughout 2008.

Proshred of Northern Virginia Achieves NAID Certification

Sterling, Va.-based Proshred of Northern Virginia, an independently owned franchise of ProShred Security, the national on-site document shredding company, has announced that it has received AAA Certification from the National Association for Information Destruction (NAID), Phoenix.

"We are delighted to be recognized for meeting the rigorous requirements of the NAID certification as well as for the increased industry status the credential affords us," Steve Theobald, general manager of Proshred of Northern Virginia, says. "We are also proud to offer our existing and future clients the backing of the industry’s highest standard as proof of our commitment to them in ensuring the secure and complete destruction of their documents."

Total Training Services Announces 2009 Shred School Schedule

Spartanburg, S.C.-based Total Training Services has announced its Shred School schedule for the coming year.

In 2009, Total Training Services will host Shred School at its Spartanburg location on the following dates:

• Feb. 4-6

• April 29-May 1

• June 3-5

• Aug. 26-28

• Nov. 4-6

• Dec. 2-4

The 2009 schedule also includes "Sales Boot Camp" and "Sales Manager Training" sessions.

"The Sales Boot Camp will be all customized for a sales professional in this industry," Ray Barry, president of Total Training Services, says of the April 29-May 1 class. "We will go into detail on all of the tools needed for them to succeed."

The Aug. 26-28 session, "Sales Manager Training," includes the tools covered during the "Sales Boot Camp" as well as hiring guidelines and expectations for new sales professionals. "We will also design a proven compensation plan for your company" Barry says.
