RECORDS MANAGEMENT FIRM OPENS OFFICE

Business Archives Inc. has opened its third location in a South Daytona, Fla., business park. The records management service also has offices in Tampa and Orlando. Business Archives specializes in records management, storage and scanning. The company also offers document destruction for customers requesting that service.

SHREDDING FIRM LANDS CONTRACT WITH COLLEGE

Trustees of John Wood Community College, Quincy, Ill., approved a three-year contract with Shredpro Inc. of St. Louis for the shredding of confidential student and employee records.

The contract will allow the college to be in compliance with the recently enacted federal Gramm-Leach-Bliley Act regarding the use and disposal of confidential financial information. Alan Steigelman, vice president of finances and business services for John Wood, said this contract will be "cheaper and a lot more efficient" than the current method of disposing of the documents.

SHREDDING FIRM STARTS IN NEW YORK STATE

A new document destruction firm has opened up in Watertown, N.Y. Shred Con is offering mobile document destruction services to businesses in the surrounding region of upstate New York.

SPSA ADDS STAFF TO FOCUS ON SHREDDING BUSINESS

The Southeastern Public Service Authority (SPSA) has announced that George Slater and Maria Allen have been added as sales consultants. They will focus on SPSA’s recycling and document destruction services. Slater has more than 25 years of sales experience and Allen has more than 10 years.

SPSA is the regional authority that collects and manages solid waste and recycling in the Hampton Roads area of Virginia.
