Galloo Recycling Acquires Two Belgian Companies

Gallo Recycling Group, a Belgium-based recycling company, recently acquired two scrap metal recycling companies operating in Belgium. The two companies are Andrea Joseph Recycling, based in Koekelaere; and Anciens Ets. F. Pennequin & Cle., based in Tournal.

The Andrea Joseph facility handles around 1,500 metric tons of ferrous and nonferrous scrap per month. The acquisition is expected to be completed by Jan. 1, 2011.

Galloo Recycling also announced that it has taken a 50 percent stake in the French company Vandamme-Dupuy group, which has 10 locations throughout France. Vandamme-Dupuy handles both ferrous and nonferrous metal, and also operates an auto shredder at its Benneuil site. The company processes around 200,000 metric tons of ferrous and nonferrous scrap per year.

“Buying these shares in Vandamme-Dupuy means that from now on we have a presence in and around Paris,” says Pierre Vandeputte, Galloo Recycling Group’s CEO.

The acquisition of the two Belgian companies, as well as the stake in the French firm, gives Galloo Recycling 13 new sites, bringing the total number of locations Galloo controls to 49. The company sells roughly 1.5 million metric tons of ferrous metal and 100,000 metric tons of nonferrous per year.
