Although the word "paper" is in its name, Allegheny Paper Shredders Corp. President John Wagner is assuring his customers that the company is following the secure destruction industry trend to tackle more than paper documents.
In a letter to current and prospective customers in its Shredder Industry Report newsletter, the president of the Delmont, Pa.-based equipment maker states, "This is no longer an industry strictly limited to the destruction of confidential documents."
Wagner singles out product destruction as a growing segment, writing, "Companies of all types today are recognizing their need to make sure that returned, defective or obsolete products aren’t reused."
He touts his company’s line of Pierce & Shear Shredders, Security Grinders and Product Destruction Shredders as natural companion pieces for document destruction firms that already own high-capacity paper shredders or other Allegheny equipment.
"When you can destroy paper, plastic and products, you can provide value-added services to your customers," Wagner says.
SSI ACQUIRES SCHRED-MAX LINECompanies engaged in high-volume product destruction may have an interest in the latest move by SSI Shredding Systems Inc. The Wilsonville, Ore., company has acquired the Schred Max line of elevated primary reducers, based in Petrolia, Ontario, Canada. The brand name for the new combined line of equipment is Pri-Max.
"The acquisition allows us to offer a complete spectrum of primary and secondary reduction equipment," says SSI director of sales and marketing Terri Ward.
John Dorscht, former president of Schred Max, will remain in charge of Pri-Max line sales. He says his pool of customers has been using primary reduction shredders to either supplement or to replace high-speed equipment.
SSI and Schred-Max had previously worked together in cross-referral situations. Ward and Dorscht say the next step of joining forces is logical. "I look forward to bringing Pri-Max customers the same high level, personal service I gave to my Schred Max customers," says Dorscht.
