NAID Announces Hard Drive Sanitization Certifications
The National Association for Information Destruction (NAID), Phoenix, has announced that four of its member companies have successfully completed the association’s new security certification program for operations that provide computer hard drive sanitization services.
E-Scrap Processing Center of Earth City, Mo.; Lifespan Technology Recycling of Denver; Supply-Chain Services Inc. of Lombard, Ill.; and WeRecycle! Inc., with operations in Mount Vernon, N.Y. and Meriden, Conn., have received NAID Certification of Sanitization Operations.
"Unlike processes that mechanically destroy the media, a sanitized hard drive is not visibly altered during the process," NAID Executive Director Bob Johnson says. "With NAID Certification of Sanitization Operations, our independent auditor verifies the security of the facilities, chain of custody and audit trail, while an independent forensic testing lab verifies the effectiveness of their quality control and overwriting process."
