Redemtech, a Columbus, Ohio-based provider of technology change management services, has announced the acquisition of PC Asset Recovery Inc., a Round Rock, Texas-based IT asset recovery and computer recycling company targeting the mid-market.
According to Redemtech, the acquisition provides it with a solution tailored to small to mid-sized businesses, a strategic area of growth for the company.
PC Asset Recovery will transition to operating under the Redemtech brand, continuing to help its clients remove surplus technology, remarket salable IT assets and recycle obsolete electronic equipment within U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) guidelines. The company will now provide its customers with Redemtech’s warranted Datasure Erase-IT service for U.S. Department of Defense-compliant data erasure. Online asset recovery and logistics, lease return management and reporting services also will be expanded, using Redemtech capabilities.
Centillion Acquires Metech International for $22 MillionElectronics recycler Metech International Inc., Worcester, Mass., has been acquired by Centillion Environment and Recycling Ltd. of Singapore for $22 million. The deal was completed Oct. 23.
Centillion has electronic recycling operations in the United Kingdom and China and operates a joint venture company in Singapore with Veolia Environmental Services Asia Pte Ltd.
Eddie Chng, chairman of Centillion, says, "Metech has over 35 years of experience in the electronics recycling and precious metals refining business. They handled over 13 million pounds of materials in FY2006 and 19 million pounds of materials in FY2007, which is a testament of their capabilities in this area."
Sam Advani, president of Metech, says the acquisition will allow Metech "to better service our multinational customers with a one-stop solution for the handling and proper disposition of their electronic materials."
Metech operates facilities in Worcester, Mass; and Gilroy, Calif., as well as collection facilities in Malaysia and Thailand.
Metech also recently purchased the electronic scrap processing plant it has been leasing in Gilroy.
The three-acre, highly secured facility is specially designed for the recovery of precious metals from manufacturing scrap and for the demanufacturing and certified destruction of electronics systems and industrial material.
Metech has invested $2 million to upgrade the facility, including a major expansion of its shredding, material destruction and material separation capabilities and improvements to its hazardous waste processing operations.
