Victory Auto Wreckers, Belleville, Illinois, is celebrating its 70th business anniversary and the 30th anniversary of the first commercial it shot for television. To mark both anniversaries, Victory Auto Wreckers is holding a contest to film a new commercial for the company. Victory has been using its original commercial since it first ran in 1985. Victory processes more than 2,000 tons of crushed automobiles per month.
“We’re asking the public to recreate the commercial in a novel way,” says Jesse Padilla, online marketing manager at Victory Auto Wreckers. “Or better yet, come up with an entirely new commercial.”
Once a week from Feb. 1, 2015, through March 28, 2015, Victory Auto Wreckers will choose a winning video and give the person who produced it $500.
To enter the contest, videographers must:
- film and edit a commercial that is no more than two minutes in length;
- upload it to the videographer’s YouTube channel; and
- submit the link to www.victoryautowreckers.com/commercial.
Entrants must be age 18 or older to enter the contest. By entering the contest, entrants allow Victory Auto Wreckers full use of the video, whether or not it wins, for commercial purposes on Victory Auto Wreckers’ Facebook page, Twitter feed, YouTube channel, website, etc.
“We are anticipating some very creative video entries,” Padilla says.
