Settlement Reached Over Air Violations

According to a number of published reports, Audubon Metals, Henderson, Ky., has agreed to pay a $200,000 fine to settle a charge that it violated the federal Clean Air Act. The fine is part of a settlement reached between the company, and the U.S. and Kentucky government.

The settlement was reached soon after the government sued Audubon in federal court.

According to the Associated Press, under terms of the settlement, the company, while not acknowledging wrongdoing, has agreed to pay the penalty to resolve allegations that it did not properly design and install a capture and collection system for exhaust at the plant in 2007.

The company takes automobile shredder fluff, processes it and delivers the material to diecasters throughout the Midwest.
