Alter Trading Corp., St. Louis, has announced the appointment of Jay L. Robinovitz as senior vice president and chief officer of operations starting in October of 2009. According to a news release from Alter, Robinovitz will be responsible for operations at Alter Trading’s 35 scrap processing facilities.
Robinovitz previously served as chief operating officer of the Auto Parts Business of Schnitzer Steel Industries. He joined Schnitzer in 1993 and has held several management positions including vice president of business development, integration and major capital investments; vice president operations; and general manager of Schnitzer’s Tacoma and Sacramento operations. Prior to joining Schnitzer Steel, he was employed by Aerospace Metals Inc. in Hartford, Conn.
“Jay brings years of recycling management experience to Alter Trading,” says Robert Goldstein, chairman, CEO and president of Alter. “His leadership and expertise will bring valuable knowledge to our processing facilities and we look forward to welcoming him and his family to St. Louis.”
Alter Trading Corp. is a privately owned, fourth-generation company based in St. Louis. The company operates 35 processing facilities and six trading offices in the United States and Hong Kong, China.
