Forecasters and politicians openly agree that long-term economic recovery will depend on the strength of independent entrepreneurs. People like the average Storage & Destruction Business reader, who, through sheer determination and self-reliance, carry their futures and the country’s future on their backs. These people have the will and ability to save the day—heroes by any definition. Many SDB readers also realize their customers are faced with drastically increased data protection liabilities. Despite the years of warnings from those of us in the industry, the day has finally come. These customers now need someone to save the day—a hero. SDB readers for the most part are independent entrepreneurs. They work hard to make better lives for themselves and for the people in their communities. They are also increasingly taking the measures necessary to protect their customers in these changing times. I suppose you can never have enough heroes. I am just happy to be in an industry with so many. Bob Johnson is chief executive officer of the National Association for Information Destruction. He can be reached at rjohnson@naidonline.org. |
