Louisiana-Pacific Corp. announced plans
to permanently close two high-cost, non-competitive mills in the U.S. as part
of the company's effort to focus on higher return facilities.
The mills scheduled for permanent closure are LP's New
Waverly, Texas, plywood facility and Bernice, Louisiana, lumber mill. Both
plants will continue operations until all raw materials on site are converted,
shipped to other facilities or sold. Equipment will either be transferred to
other LP facilities or salvaged.
