Weyerhaeuser Co. continues to schedule downtime throughout its system to take advantage of slower than expected demand for its finished product. According to one source a total of 18 days of machine downtime will be taken.
According to several sources Weyerhaeuser will be taking between 100,000-150,000 tons of downtime between now and January.
The company is looking to take roughly 18 days of downtime at its Cedar Rivers mill in Iowa. The company will be taking several days of downtime between its two machines, including five days around Thanksgiving and seven days of downtime around the Christmas holiday.
The Cedar Rivers mill is the largest single site paperboard mill in the United States, with capacity of around 2,000 tons a day.
