Winners of the Year 2000 Governor’s Waste Reduction
and Recycling Awards were announced for New York. The awards are presented each
year to organizations and individuals that make efforts to promote recycling.
Winners include:
The Broome County Division of Solid Waste Management
Monroe County Department of Environmental Services
Auburn Steel Company, Cayuga County
Long Island City Business Development Corp., Queens
Mark Darling, Ithaca College, Tompkins County
"Waste
reduction and recycling have been resounding successes in New York State thanks
to the dedicated efforts of businesses, individuals, local municipalities,
not-for-profits and government agencies," says New York Governor George
Pataki.
Awards are given in two categories, Innovation and Achievement of Excellence and were presented in October at the 11th Annual New York State Recycling Seminar, Albany, N.Y.
