Dunlap, hired as an adviser about three months ago for Visy U.S, hopes to double the profits the paper and packaging business makes in the next three to five years, the newspaper said.
Dunlop has prior experience in the paper industry. He previously worked for Scott Paper prior to its acquisition by Kimberly-Clark Corp. In the corporate world he has developed a reputation for slashing jobs, plants and overall costs.
Visy's plan is to expand the company's share of the U.S. market from 2 percent. The company is the ninth largest paper and packaging group in the United States.
Melbourne-based Visy Industries has operations in Australia, New Zealand and U.S. It makes corrugated cardboard boxes, produces specialist printed and non-printed packaging, collects recovered fiber and operates paper recycling mills.
