Swedish paper group SCA is interested in buying the tissue operations of the U.S. company Fort James Corp., the Financial Times reported.
On Friday, the paper group unveiled first-half profits which came in just above expectations and said it saw improving profitability for the rest of 2000.
Martin-Lof , CEO of SCA, told a news conference last week that SCA was considering acquisitions in North America and Europe.
Georgia-Pacific recently announced plans to acquire Fort James.
