<B>Stora Creating North American Division</B>

Following the acquisition of Consolidated Papers, Stora Enso's operations in North America will come under a new structure. The new group, called the North American Division, will be led by Kai Korhonen, senior executive vice president and a member of Stora Enso's Executive Management Group.

The new Stora Enso North American Division will include Stora Enso's existing papermaking facility in Port Hawkesbury, Nova Scotia and Stora's North American sales offices. Also included will be Consolidated Paper's facilities in Wisconsin and Minnesota and the company's sales offices through North America.

The combined North American Division's combined capacity of paper and board will be about 2.7 million metric tons.

The Stora Enso North American Division will consist of two primary business units:

  • Magazine Papers, which will include lightweight coated and supercalendered papers and newsprint; and Fine Papers, which will include fine papers, specialty papers and paperboard.

The North American Management Group will consist of the following:

  • Ronald Swanson, senior vice president magazine papers, will act as Korhonen's deputy. Swanson is currently senior vice president at Consolidated Papers.
  • Aulis Ansaharju, senior vice president fine papers.
  • Peter Mersmann, senior vice president of marketing and sales.
  • Sten Holmberg, senior vice president, accounting, information technology and legal affairs.
  • Asko Hyttinen, senior vice president division planning.
  • Gary Parafinczuk, senior vice president of human resources.
  • Tim Laatsch, senior vice president communications.

The North American Division's financial results will be reported in accordance with the current Stora Enso product areas: magazine paper, newsprint, fine paper, packaging boards, timber products and market pulp.
