Smurfit-Stone Container Corp. announced that Jay Gurandiano will retire effective September 1, 2000, from his positions of COO and director of the company. He joined Smurfit-Stone upon the completion of Smurfit-Stone's acquisition of St. Laurent Paperboard Inc.
