``The acquisition of Igaras is in line with the strategic orientation of Klabin. The addition of these high quality assets to Klabin's already strong platform will create a company better able to compete in the global market,'' said Josmar Verillo, CEO of Klabin.
Max Feffer, CEO of Suzano, stated that the sale of Igaras allows Suzano to focus on its core Paper, Pulp and Petrochemicals businesses. He further commented that ``Igaras is one of the leading integrated containerboard businesses in Latin America.''
Igaras is Brazil's leading exporter of kraft linerboard and a large producer of containerboard. Igaras is also one of the three largest corrugated box producers in Brazil, owning and operating 5 converting facilities with total annual capacity of 272,000 metric tons.
