Perkins Papers Ltd. announced the inauguration of its new Folding Carton Division in Lachute, Quebec. The division, previously located in the company's tissue paper manufacturing unit in Lachute, is equipped with high-performance machines that are better suited to meeting the demands of customers in the fast-food industry. This modern facility came on stream in September 1999.
Perkins' Folding Carton Division employs over 100 people and processes 10,000 tons of boxboard annually. Perkins Papers is the second largest manufacturer of tissue in Canada and seventh in North America, employing 950 people in six mills (five in Quebec and 1 in North Carolina). The group has a total of seven paper machines that can produce 232,000 tons of tissue paper and 38 processing units.
