The National Recycling Coalition named Target Stores, the Department of Defense and the Environmental Defense with the Recycling Leadership Award. The three organizations will be cited during the Recycling Works Recognition Dinner Dec. 4.
Target was recognized for its ability to recycle 278,000 tons of material nationwide.
Environmental Defense was recognized for its goal of linking science, economics, and law to create innovative and workable solutions to global environmental problems.
The DOD recycling programs was recognized for its success. Since 1992 DOD recycling increased from 820 million pounds to 1.3 billion pounds.
