Norampac broken ground on a new location for its mega box plant in Vaughan, Ont. Norampac decided to relocate its box plant to Vaughan because the present site offers no room for expansion. The 400,000-square-feet facility will be a high-performance conversion plant and a model of efficiency, flexibility and quality.
The $55-million project will enable the company to streamline production and transportation costs, allowing the plant to become the integrated plant with the lowest production costs in Canada. The new high-tech equipment will enable Norampac to manufacture several categories and combinations of premium-quality fluted paper. New conversion and printing equipment will also be added to existing machinery to create an automated plant design.
A containerboard warehouse will be attached to the new conversion plant, reducing internal transportation costs.
